Cookie Notice
Version 2026-10-25
This notice explains what Psst stores in your browser and on your phone when you use the website at psst.dating, the web app and the Psst apps (together, the "Service"). It is part of our Privacy Policy.
The short version: Psst uses only what it needs to work. There are no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers and no social-media pixels anywhere in the Service.
1. Cookies we set
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
psst_rt |
Keeps a signed-in member signed in. Sent only to Psst's sign-in endpoint, never readable by scripts. | Until you sign out, or 30 days without use |
psst_staff_rt |
The same for venue staff using Staff Mode or the venue dashboard. | Until sign-out, or 30 days without use |
psst_admin_rt |
The same for Psst's own team in admin. | Until sign-out, or a shorter period set for admin |
psst_locale |
Remembers the language you chose. | 1 year |
All of these are strictly necessary: without them you could not stay signed in or keep your language. They are first-party (set by psst.dating) and never shared.
2. Storage on your device
Besides cookies, the Service keeps a few small items in your browser's local storage, IndexedDB or the app's own storage:
- A random device identifier (
psst_device) that binds your sign-in to this device, so a stolen sign-in cannot be reused elsewhere. - Tonight's venue look (a cached copy of the venue's colors), so the app opens in the venue's theme without a flash.
- A check-in pass (
psst_checkin_pass) for a few minutes after you scan a venue's check-in code. - An invite code (
psst_ref) you opened from a member's or venue's link, until your account is set up. - Small reminders such as whether you already saw tonight's "Keep in touch?" prompt.
- Staff only: arming events waiting to be sent while the door's connection is down (an offline queue), deleted once they reach Psst.
- The web app's offline pages, cached by its service worker so the app opens quickly on venue Wi-Fi.
None of this storage holds your photo, your messages or anything another person could use to identify you, and none of it is used for advertising.
3. Analytics
Psst counts page views on its public pages with self-hosted analytics (Umami) that set no cookies and share nothing with advertisers. Error reports are scrubbed of personal data before they are stored.
4. Other sites
When you pay for a band, a ticket or a pass, Stripe's checkout page opens on Stripe's own site and may set its own cookies there under Stripe's policies. Links to partner offers open the partner's site, where its own cookie rules apply. Psst does not receive the cookies those sites set.
5. Your choices
You can delete or block cookies and site data in your browser's settings at any time. If you delete the cookies above you will be signed out and the Service will forget your language; blocking them stops the web app from keeping you signed in. On your phone, deleting the app removes everything it stored.
6. Changes and contact
If we start using a new kind of cookie or storage, we will update this notice before we do. Questions: [email protected].
